In-House Work: Ratatouille Screen To Plate
Year: 2025
Project Objective:
An in-house Screen to Plate event by Village Cinemas, this instalment centred around a special screening of Ratatouille. As a relatively new business initiative, the project explored how film storytelling can extend into a dining experience within the cinema environment, with a strong focus on bringing the world of the film to life across every customer touchpoint.
Project Outcome:
A key hero photoshoot was art directed by myself, referencing the opening of the film set in the French countryside kitchen before Remy’s journey to the city in Ratatouille.
This concept direction extended into the wider design system, incorporating a French-inspired patterned background reminiscent of a napkin or picnic cloth, reinforcing the film’s rustic culinary origins.
Developed in collaboration with Disney and Pixar, the concept delivered a cohesive, on-theme menu and design suite that translated key narrative and visual identifiers from the film into a physical, immersive experience.
With menu design inspired by the Anyone Can Cook cookbook to reinforce authenticity and narrative alignment. Guests were presented with a non-traditional menu format that not only communicated the dishes and drinks available throughout the experience, but also included the actual recipes for key items served.
This approach created a more engaging, long-form design asset that extended beyond the event itself. The menu functioned as a keepsake recipe book, reinforcing recognition and positive memory association with Screen to Plate through its continued usability post-event. This was further enhanced through an interactive final page, encouraging guests to personalise their experience by adding their own images of dishes they recreate from the book at home.
The announcement social assets were developed as a carousel format, designed as a continuous long-form image that encouraged users to swipe through the full composition rather than viewing isolated tiles. This approach created a more immersive reveal of the event experience and strengthened narrative flow across digital touchpoints.
This was supported by a wider digital suite for event promotion, including welcome and hold slides, along with additional supporting content designed to maintain a consistent visual language across all touchpoints and ensure a cohesive, recognisable identity throughout the campaign.
CAMPAIGN GALLERY
A range of asset and photography examples I have designed and art directed in relation to this event.
This project demonstrates my ability to create cohesive campaign suite that extend across print, digital and in-cinema experiences. By art directing photography and developing a unified visual direction, I created an immersive campaign that balanced the identities of Village Cinemas, Screen to Plate and Disney & Pixar's Ratatouille.
